Alison R. Kertis is a civil litigation attorney licensed in Nevada and California who represents businesses of all sizes in complex disputes across state and federal courts. Her practice focuses on commercial litigation, partnership and ownership disputes, shareholder agreements, and high-stakes business conflicts involving significant financial and operational issues. Alison brings extensive courtroom experience representing clients in courts throughout Nevada and California, including matters involving complex financial records and multi-entity disputes with allegations of fraud, misrepresentation, and breaches of fiduciary duty.
In addition to her commercial litigation practice, Alison advises clients in estate administration, including wills, trusts, and probate litigation, guiding clients through sensitive family and financial disputes. She also works with businesses on ERISA-related issues, including plan obligations and compliance matters.
Alison is known for her strategic and results-driven approach to dispute resolution, emphasizing efficient resolution before litigation when possible, particularly in partnership, ownership, and asset-related disputes. She completed advanced negotiation training through the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation and applies those principles to advocate effectively both inside and outside the courtroom. Alison combines practical business judgment with effective legal strategy and is prepared to take matters through trial when necessary to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients.
Prior to joining SBW Law Group, Alison gained experience at a national insurance defense firm and several boutique business law firms in Nevada, where she developed a strong foundation in civil litigation and complex business disputes. After earning her J.D. from Marquette University Law School, Alison served as a judicial law clerk for two years in Washoe County Second Judicial District Court for the Honorable Scott Freeman, where she worked on a wide range of civil matters and gained invaluable insight into litigation and judicial decision-making.
Outside of her practice, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two young children, and two dogs, and taking advantage of the outdoor spaces of the Sierra Nevada region.
